NADIA meeting minutes (GENERAL)
- Lee briefly acknowledged a returning member Jenka Poole and observed apologies
for absence from Paul Chenoweth and Merlin Courtenay.
Speaker
-Meeting opened at 20:35 and introduced our very own Jack Barker, presenting a
powerpoint on Neurodiversity/Neurodivergent and specifically ADHD and how this
awareness may help ADI’s when instructing/Coaching. Jack Answered all questions
asked.
-Jack disclosed that he had recently been diagnosed with ADHD and as a result has
carried our research into this vast topic. This enabled significant involvement from
the members and discussions became very interactive. Discussions took place
around the theory side of driving and the DVSA theory test. During this discussion
Sarah Perry recommended the use of an official DVSA theory colouring book that
may assist members (Discover more at colouracademybooks.com).
Treasurer’s Report
-Annette reported we had £6642 in the NADIA bank account and the forced
changeover of bank accounts had been completed.
Secretaries Report
-Jacks secretary report was brief, accurate and concise due to time restraints on the
night.
Chairman’s Report
-Lee reported that he would be willing to research Driving Instructor Car insurance
and the pro’s and cons when making a claim, this research can be used at future
meetings as a report back to the members as he now has over 20 years’ experience
purchasing this type of service and has claimed on his insurance a few times now.
-Mel Tyler and a few others seemed interested and on the back of this she requested
that I/We get in touch with Beverly from Kingswood MPTC soon to ask if she would
like to attend one of our meetings.
Future Speakers
Mark Self was asked by the chair regarding future speakers and professionally said
that he had people in the pipeline- It is important to mention that our next meeting is
an AGM therefore no speaker(s) will be requested in March 2025.
Under 17s course report
Jerry Price delivered information that due to late withdrawal of a couple of students
that the January course will take a loss. For the rest of the year places are being
booked and are filling up slowly. More bookings are always welcomed.
ADI/NJC Report
Keith was asked by the chair for a report, the website is still live and improvements
are still to be made.
Social Secretary Report
Lee was unable to confirm any events at this time due to the recent bad weather.
